REMARKS:

In the era of rapid urban transformation, visionaries are setting a new agenda for global urban spaces, where sustainable design in buildings is united with responsible considerations for experience and functionality. To mitigate escalating consequences in high-density cities, especially during rapid urbanisation, a radical shift in the way we design and function our cities is paramount and urgent.

These forward-thinkers strive for low-carbon environments while still pushing for the creation of stunning architectural works.  By prioritising holistic approaches, they demonstrate how the resultant designs are able to meet people’s needs and aspirations, thereby enhancing the quality of life and leaving a positive impact on the well-being of communities. Fundamental to an encompassing agenda are the health and well-being of the community, the quality and functionality of urban spaces, and addressing climate change impacts.

In this panel, join Garett Hwang and Ruffina Thilakaratne on their creative and research journeys to discover how innovative architectural design and thoughtful open space planning can transform constraints into advantages, help cities navigate change, and foster a future-proof environment that inspires and elevates the urban experience.
